you tell too much, and show too little! instead of SAYING there was something bad that happened here, SHOw it! Like, add in a background item or two... muzzy it into the scenery a tad... a trail of blood, a tear stained napkin...a missing shoe... that kind of thing. ;) too many words take away from the atmosphere of a thing like this, and the music is too overwhelming. it distracts rather than adds. sometimes silence is everything. not saying you shouldn't have music, but mute it so it is JUUUUUST UNDERRRR the player's median hearing level. you talk about scary? woo!
