you inspire me with the art you make. this is the kind of simple art I really like in a game, like in Detarou and Daymare Town. What do you use to make these with?

Shuinvy responds:

Thanks for admiring :)
I try to draw my own style comics and game style pictures( I have been influenced in Japanese comic style so long), though still some people don't like my style though :P
I'm so glad you like it :D
I use Flash CS4 to coding and Photoshop CS3 to painting.
For my steps of making games,
First, the style, it depends on determining it's a series or not, because it's a (Halloween) series, I will choose characters I want to play their role in the game first.
Second, the story, not really there is a story in a game, if there is, there are many ways to display the plot( I use RPG story one)
Third, the puzzles, it will influence the background pictures( game scenes), because you should set the puzzles in a good place and it may lead to another place.
Mostly the puzzles are same ideas as the games I have played, I may put some ( maybe 1 per games) special puzzles that I create for inspiration( but that one may more difficult)
After above three steps, I can start to draw pictures in Photoshop.
I will draw the concept(sketch) in note book or paper in hand, then take a photo and upload to my Email, then use the concept in the Photoshop and paint it in complete pictures.
When I almost finish the pictures of characters and backgrounds( except ending scene and menu scene one), I start coding in Flash :P
I also have a checklist for every game, so I can check the function of the puzzles.
A game may at least 10 lists, you can 'v' in the list after you finish the function, and it will let you feel more relax because you are more possible to finish the game ;)
After the function looks okay, I will let my friends test my game.
They will tell me the difficulty and give me suggestion, I also make a google form to ask them question :)
Thanks for your playing and supporting :)
And wish you a happy new year!
(I'm Taiwanese, we have Chinese New Year after 1 week XD)

cool, but English off and I couldn't find the bottom-leftmost screw. ;< This feels like Detarou and I LOVE Detarou. ;)

Shuinvy responds:

Yeah, I should modify the translation someday :/
I hadn't found friends help me translate the game in that time, so I use Google instead( terrible tool sometimes XD)
I'm so glad you know Deterou, I like the Japanese games, too! So funny and challenging ;)

The screw is in an inconvenient place :/ it's in the 3D yellow 'T' room in the third-left room, and the closer view of missiles that the sensing area almost close to back button in the left-bottom side, hope it's helpful.

This is my first game in my life, the first of everything is a disaster XDD
But after this game, I learned many things afterward :)

Thanks for your playing :D

Oh this was adorable! I wish I could make these but my brain is screwy. (I'm autistic... they say. O.o)

I love these so much. every time I go to try and make one, something doesn't pan out. the program I found that I could use is probably going to stop being made, and well... argh. I have a hard hard time understanding what I read or hear. something gets messed up in my head and I can't understand. But this is so cute! the algebra was beyond me though; didn't even realize it was algebra- that's how obscure it was for me. a bit too obscure for the rest of the game I think. BUT if you made it a non math puzzle and KEPT that sense of surprise obscurity, I think that could be a good gimmick/signature for a series, like Coconuts Park, Tesshi-e, Detarou, Robamimi, etc. the cat, and the three balls idea, too. it's adorable!

Shuinvy responds:

Thanks for admiring and I feel so touched after reading your messages :)
This is a game for paying my respects to a friend that teaching me algebra in that period :P
( His academic field is about algebra)
And it's good idea to make the same form games about three balls ;)
Although I stop making games recently, I start drawing comics, and I may start making games after the comic comes to an end( because I don't want to miss chance to make Halloween games every year) :P

By the way, I have tried use javascript(jQuery) only to make a game, I think it's better than Flash, but html5 is the trend( I hope I will learn it in the future) :/
I suggest to practice to make simple one first,
since the operation is click only,
Make one scene game,
and remember everything is in the scene,
you just need to hide or show the items.
(When you click an item in the scene, the item will disappear, usually the code is related to 'hide')
If you need, I can teach you how to make simple escape games :D

ah, thank you for setting me onto Polybius. That is a fun fun mystery/gag/creepypasta/bullshit story. ;) so much fun!

Ah, these are fun as always. ahhhh. every time I play these I smile.

I Love the effort you put into your games! I play SelfDefiant's stuff sometimes. But yours have story! ;) I hope you had a good year and a merry Christmas, D!

dear god I love this game. this type of game is always my favorite.

I love the art. the concept is fascinating too. but then I have a thing for asylums...

such a shame. the art is beautiful... esp the old man in the 'cut scenes'. but, it could have been great, like Deep Sleep or the Ossuary. The art is far better than the game play.

... great game, but..
WILL OPERATE YOU SOON?
DON't PREY?

what? was that on purpose?

One hundred meters? That ought to keep the cows guessing.
